My last post was so full of pictures and took so long do and I had to opt out of doing any holiday weekend pictures.  It was a big weekend, we had Jackson’s big EIGHTH birthday bash.  I can’t believe that kid is eight.  It’s so wierd to me.

It true 8th birthday fashion, he got a fart machine as a gift and so now, no one is safe at the Farwell house.  Apparently they’re going after everyone with this thing :-)  Watch out!

Then he also got a fun surprise gift…..my parents got him a ticket to the Cardinals game that some of us are going to this Sunday.  So he gets to have a fun little trip to St. Louis with grandma and papa.  I  LOVED his big smile when he realized what it was.  It makes me happy that he’s at an age where he genuinely get’s excited about going to a Cardinals game :-)

So on Monday (his actual birthday) we went to our usual, La Fuente.  Ali had warned me that he was dead serious about making sure they did not sing to him during dinner.  He didn’t want them doing it. period.  NO FUN!  Soooooooooo……my sneaky little self just blurted out “HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACKSON” as the waiter was seating them with us.  I was hoping he woudl catch on and he did.  He came back later and said, “and do we have a birthday today?”  and neither Ali or Andrew could tell him no :-)  Jackson heard that whole conversation, so he knew it was coming and he was warned to be good and not grumpy about it.  I LOVE these pictures :-)

So then Andrew decided to go ahead and make him branch out a little (beyond queso) and try the dessert they brought him.  It was HYSTERICAL.  He hated it :-)

 

Obviously we also had Easter Sunday, but for some odd reason…I didn’t really have my camera with me much.  The Easter Egg hunt was a total bust.  My mom had this plan of pairing us up . tying us together at the hip and making one of us blindfolded.  The blindfolded one was the one who had to actually pick up the egg, the other person ahd to direct them.  Sound like something fun and new, right????   You will not believe which people were whining and complaining about this fun idea…..ALLISON, Autumn & Jackson.  Seriously, Jackson was being a COMPETE turd about it.  Like, “well then I’m just not going to do the easter egg hunt”  pouting attitude.   I think he tossed out the word “lame” a few times.  I’ll tell you what’s lame, kid!!!!!  You would think his mom would jump in and tell him to shape up and have fun with it, but noooooooooooo.  She was complaining right along side him.  I told my mom to just kick them all out of the hunt until they put on their fun pants :-)  So long story, short.  We had to ax the fun new approach to the Easter egg hunt and do or normal “run around the yard screaming, pushing each other, flipping over furniture, etc.”   My approach this year was to start out in one of the front, side corners of our yard.  It has a TON of hiding spots, but takes a while to search.  As it turns out…..my plan SUCKED.   Caroline had decided to join me in that corner and searched in the opposite direction that I did.  Little did I know, she was finding all the eggs in that corner and then left.  I searched some more and found ZERO.  I came out to the middle of the yard to learn that pretty much all the eggs (including the silver and gold) had been found.   TOTAL CRAP!!!  I started yelling (of course it was all out of fun) at my dad and telling him that “If you say there are eggs EVERYWHERE in the back yard, you better put eggs EVERYWHERE in the back yard!!!  I spent my whole time in that corner looking for eggs and found NONE!!!  You should have said there weren’t any back there!!!”

Then they informed me that there were eggs there, but Caroline foudn them all.  Then my dad threw a Sonic cup at me.  I was getting ready to throw it back to him when he informed me there was an egg in it.  So I finally got at least one stinking egg :-)  It had $10 in it, so although it wasn’t my usuall “Golden Egg” status that I held for the 2 previous years, it was much better than finding no eggs :-)

Next year I will redeem myself!

After the hunt, my mom had requested I get a special picture of Owen that she’s been wanting.  He is really big into his shadwow these days, so my mom wanted me to document it :-)

We had lots of cuties at our Easter celebration :-)

 

Owen was telling Miles & Bennett about all the fun things they’re learn to do in their 1st year :-)

So after a fun filled, Holiday weekend, I did some shoots for some very cute little girls before I headed back to St. Louis.  I’ve been shooting the Bison girls for awhile now and I have to say, this is my favorite shoot with them :-)  These two are just so much fun at their shoots.   The keep me on my toes, they make me laugh and they have such a cute sister bond.  It makes me so happy when I get to capture glimpses of that sister love :-)

After their shoot, I got to meet up with their friend Raya for her first shoot with me.  Holy cuteness!!!!  Raya was an absolute dream to photograph.  You know when you get those moments where kids are just kids and they explore and stare at things with such curiousity….it’s so sweet and I LOVE that moment.  Raya had lots of those moments :-)

She was so cute!  She gave me this bundle of flowers (awwwwww) and every now and then, I would give them back to her to hold for a picture.  You think she would just keep them and forget that she gave themto me earlier, but not Raya, she always made sure to give them back to me with,  “I gave you these flowers!”

So I got back to St. Louis, late Tuesday night and then got up on Wednesday morning SO, SO, SO excited to do a newborn shoot.  Ohhhhhhhhh I love my newborn shoots :-)  Working with lily on Wednesday was such a big breath of fresh air.  She was such a breeze and cried maybe ONCE or twice.   I was exhausted after we were done, but as usual….it was so worth it!  I worried about raising the price on my Newborn Shoot Package, but I’m SO SO SO happy I did.  Now I’m truly getting paid what I desereve to get paid for them AND I’m getting clients that appreciate it and admire it.  Obviously there are going to be clients (ahem…..husbands) that totally rule out a newborn shoot with me because of price, but I always just tell myself that it’s better that way.  I don’t want to do a shoot with someone who thinks my work should be discounted and I shouldn’t get paid.  This is NOT the case with Allison & Terry :-)  They value what I do, they really do treasure what I give them and understand the importance of documenting those precious times in life.  THAT makes me happy and THAT is the reason I do what I do.  To catch those moments and show people how important it is….and once people realize that importance (and all the techincal work that goes into it), it makes my job worthy to them.    So Allison and Terry, thank you so much for always supporting me and valuing what I do.  It means the world :-)  So excited to keep wathcing and documenting Jack & Lily as they grow!
