{Seriously??? It's already over???}

That’s the way it happens every year…before you know it- the holiday season is over :-(   That is exactly why I have no problem whatsoever starting my Christmas season early.  I’m perfectly fine with starting at the end of October and ending on February 1st.

Some people drink too much, some people are addicted to drugs, some people have affiars…..I celebrate Christmas for 3 months….it’s not a bad thing…it’s my thing :-)  Soooooo my christmas tree will stay up till February 1st because it makes me happy.  There nothing more depressing than driving around on a cold, dark January night and seeing nothing but darkness.  I love Christmas lights and from what I hear, most other people do as well….so why not keep them up and lit till we get through January?? 

Ugh January….you just really stink sometimes.

So anyway………….. I can’t believe it’s over.   I was the first to arrive on December 22nd and I was the last to leave at 5:30 last night.  I know my parents probably went to bed at 8:00 and slept for a solid 10 hours- but I know they’re sad that everyone is gone.   It was completely exhausting, but it was WAYYYYYY more fun than anything else and TONS of hard work put in by my parents.  THANK YOU MOM AND DAD!!!!!

Nancy came to visit!!!

I noticed a trend when I was looking through everyone's pictures....someone needs to take this baby boy away from me! He just loves to snuggle and smile....how can I resist him?? P.S.- no he does not wear flower headbands. That was at Christmas dinner- I had been drinking and i thought it would be funny to put a flower headband on him....his dad didn't think it was as funny.

New Years Eve was a busy one.  We had Kaitlin’s Baby Shower during the day and then a little New Year’s Eve Party and a mini engagement party for Caroline & Jared.  We had some friends come over, we wore comfy clothes, ate, drank, played games, watched movies, talked, shot off fireworks, celebrated at 11:00 instead of 12:00 and then crashed.  Apparently the engagement party was supposed to be a surprise, but I totally ruined it.  Halfway through New Years Eve, we put up some decorations really quickly, gave them some presents, she gave us our bridesmaids presents, we drank some champagne and then went back to our New Years Eve festivities :-)

ALL the credit for the shower, New Years Eve and the Engagement party go ENTIRELY to my mom and older sisters.  The invitation said, “hosted by her sisters”, but I honestly just made some muffins & food lables the night before, I helped hang some banners, I took some pictures and that was about it.  They were afraid to ask me to do anything during my crazy editing frenzy :-)

My only contribution....the last minute food labels. Sara copied the invitation onto my my mom's chalkboard and we were all SUPER impressed. Do you know how hard it is to do detail work with chalk?? Seriously- she made it look identical to the invite.

Tisha actually left Baby Violet to come to the shower.....this was HUGE!!! She missed her terribly and headed out a smidge early to run home to her :-)

Becky (zane's mom) made the baby this super cute cashmere jacket and hat set. She then told me it had to be in the newborn pictures...I agree :-)

They were all excited because she got Goodnight Moon as a gift and they all own Goodnight Moon...and they all love it :-)

Then it was time to put some babies to sleep for their afternoon naps.

Lincoln was caught stealing Briley's shoes a few times. One time he actually took her shoes, coat and hat!

After some naps, some cleaning and some decor changing- we were ready to switch over to New Years Eve mode.   Sara stole my camera throughout the night and took some pictures.

Kaitlin was sick the entire time she was home

This picture reminds me so much of what New Years Eve was like when we were little.

So the spoons game came down to the 3 most feisty people in the family.  Me, my mom and Andy……

And.....................mom is out!

Andy won... I must admit- there weren't that many cheers when he won..... :-)

Caroline "proposed" to us for our bridesmaids gifts :-) She made little felt-flower rings and then gave the flower girls vases of flowers. Of course we all said yes!

So then I wanted to get a certain picture before people started leaving.  I wanted to get all the babies under the tree, smiling.  Here we go………..

At this point, I had Jackson climbing onto my shoulders and Ellie hanging on my back and these two coming at me :-)

There you have it!  Sara & Ryan left after this shoot, Amanda & Todd left early the  next morning, Kaitlin & Zane  left in afternoon, Andy & Autumn left shortly after them and I left  in the evening.  I always leave last because I like to get all my laundry done before I head back….and the washer & dryer typically aren’t open till mostly everyone is gone.  Plus I can usually get a yummy dinner before I hit the road :-) 

Now we’re on to Baby Taylor in February, Molly’s Senior year (awwww), a bunch of 1st birthday parties, DISNEY WORLD IN JUNE…AHHHHHHH and another fun wedding to cap off the year!  I know this one is going to fly by- so I’m going to try my hardest to enjoy every single moment and slow it down a bit :-)

Is it sad that I super excited to start all my catch up/organizing/re-vamping work this week??  It’s soooooooooooooooo needed and now I actually have the time to do it.   Yayyy!!!  Then I will squeeze in some trips to Bentonville and possibly a trip to Dallas to beat the winter blues!  

I will be back tomorrow to blog about my awesome Christmas gifts, 2011 goals/2010 lessons and to show you some SUPER cute pictures for the twins 8- month shoot!!!!

  1. I totally agree with you Lissy. People take their decorations down way too early! I hate to see the dark homes and streets immediately after Christmas! Love all of your pictures and loved spending Christmas with your family…as always!
