Sometimes I can be a complete moron. 

Seriously. 

Kelly contacted me earlier in the summer to set up her shoot.  She wanted to do a location that had the tall grasses that she had seen in several of my shoots over the summer.  Well, I found tall grasses when I did a wedding out in Wentzville.  It was out at Quail Ridge Park in Wentzville….WENTZVILLE.  The park is FULL of tall grasses and photo opts.  I knew Kelly would love it!

I thought, “wow- this will be perfect!  They live in St. Charles, so this will be a quick drive for them.”  So I emailed Kelly and she agreed to meet there.  Their shoot day comes along and I decide to head out to Wentzville a little early so I can beat the rush hour traffic- because our shoot was scheduled for 5:30. 

One word….construction.

Let’s just say it’s a good thing that I left as early as I did.  The shoot time comes and then goes- I started to worry that maybe we communicated the wrong date or maybe I got the wrong time.  No worries though- they made it!  They pulled in and I asked the dad how long it took them to get here and he said, “lonnggggg time!” so I asked, “wait- where do you guys live???”  and he said, “Oh just south of the Brewery.”   

WHAT?????  Yes- I am a moron.  We both drove about 45 mins outside of St. Louis, through rush hour and construction traffic….when I’m sure we could have found grasses somewhere closer to the city had I  just looked harder.   m o r o n…

Oh- and I also have it set in my head that today was Friday.  I can’t tell you how many people I’ve probably confused today (or how many people agree that I’m a moron) because I’ve just been chatting it up- thinking it’s Friday. 

DEAR LORD!  

Anywho- The Ritter’s photo shoot was AWESOME!!!!!  Despite the drive, the Cross Country Track meet that was taking over the park and dark clouds that popped up out of nowhere…the shoot was perfect.    Kate, Evaline & Nicholas are so stinkin’ cute :-)  They were my little helpers (love that helper stage) and helped me carry some props to a from my car.   Thanks so much kiddos and enjoy your sneak peek!!!

So……the next few days are going to be kinda crazy. 

I just got back into Kirksville this evening….I do a shoot tomorrow at 8AM…we leave for Louisville (twin’s baptism) at 9:30….drop my car off at the airport in St. Louis….edit while I ride with my parents the rest of the way to Louisville….twins baptism Saturday morning (I’m colton’s godmother- yayyy!)…fly out of Louisville on Sunday at 7:30 AM….layover in Cincinnati….land in St. Louis at 9:30….drive to Kirksville for shoot’s at 3:00 & 5:00…2 shoots on Monday….1 shoot on Tuesday….1 Shoot on Wednesday….drive back to St. Louis Wednesday evening….lunch meeting at Thursday afternoon….dinner meeting Thursday evening….my birthday on Friday (almost forgot)….my family comes in town on Friday (or at least I think they do)….Brady’s Baptism on Saturday….1 Shoot on Sunday.

You know- as insane as it sounds and as crazy as it may get sometimes…I still absolutely love it.  It’s a TON of work and sometimes you have to put up with some interesting people- but the rewards are so worth it and so much more than a 9-5 job.  Love it :-)

After next Sunday- I have NO shoots scheduled for an ENTIRE WEEK….and I think I’m going to leave it that way.  A Solid week of work and getting caught up (caught up??  yeah right!) and maybe normal sleep hours….I’ll take it!
