{I'm moving back to Kirksville……kinda….}

Chill out!  It’s only till end of January :-)   I’m already here and I plan on staying pretty much till the end of January.  I have to go back to St. Louis a couple times for a few different things, but I’m in the ville for about 2 months :-)   The reason I’m staying so long????   It’s my “break month”, I’m going to be somewhat of a nanny/helper for the Farwell’s, we have Caroline & Jared’s wedding on New Years Eve and my mom hates January because no one’s home and all the Christmas lights go down.  So my smiley/sarcastic/smart-a&$ self is going to keep her entertained :-)

My poor parents.  Everyone keeps talking about this empty nest thing they’re going to experience, but…..they just  c a n n o t   g e t   r i d   o f   t h e i r   k i d s!!!!!

So anyway- I’ll be hanging around town for a bit.  I’ll be doing some shoots, but really only newborns because they can’t wait until February or March.  I’m being pretty strict about making sure I keep January shoot-free and semi lazy :-)

Sooooooooooooo…….I know there are some of you out there that have been waiting approximately 4 or 5 days to start seeing some actual, put on my photographer pants, prop involved, newborn photos of the two new handsome boys in my life, ha!  Well I have them for you and I LOVE them!!!!  Miles & Bennett were total dreams.  Normally, the prop shots take a super long time because it’s a lot of setting up, heating things up, getting them into position, soothing them, feeding them, changing them, etc, etc.  Basically, it takes HOURS, but just wait until you hear how long Miles & Bennett took. 

After a very action packed labor & delivery (you MUST read about it on Ali’s blog HERE ) they were able to come hom from the hospital on Thursday.  I took some candids of them just hanging around the house.  Lincoln was the only one home when they came back from the hospital, so he got his own little photo shoot with them :-)

Since Ali had gotten ZERO sleep leading up to the delivery and then had a pretty painful delivery, she was totally spent and wasn’t really supposed to be on her feet a ton.  I always do this thing with my siblings where I stay up with the babies when they need me to.  Just so they can catch up on sleep to the point where they can actually function and enjoy themselves.  So anyway, I stayed up with them on Thursday night and hung out with them for most of Friday and got some  pictures of Miss Ellie adoring her new brothers :-)  She spent a good 30 minutes rolling around those two, trying to take a picture of all 3 of them with her Nintendo DS.  She just couldn’t find an angle that would fit them all in the picture.  So I just watched her and giggled for awhile, then finally asked her if she wanted me to take the picture for her…she said, “oh yeah!!!  That’s a great idea!!!”   :-)

Miles thought she was kinda crazy :-)  

On Friday morning, we had all intentions of getting their bean bag pictures done.   When I say “bean bag pictures” I mean the easier pictures that just involve me positioning them on a bean bag.   I didn’t actually leave their house to go shower until 11:30ish, so by the time I got home, showered, went to wal-mart to get some stuff for Ali, went by the “studio” to get a couple things and headed back to their house…..it was almost 3:00 and we didn’t have a ton of light left.  So we attempted a few, but didn’t get too far.  Saturday was much more productive :-)  Caroline and I both stayed up with the babies on Friday night, so it worked out great having an extra set of hands there on Saturday morning for the rest of the pictures.  Since I already had all the stuff there from Friday afternoon, I just busted it all out that next morning and started shooting away :-)   We ordered some Jimmy Johns while they babies ate their lunch and Kaitlin & Zane came to hang out, then shot a few more after that and then we were done!  

If you ever saw some girl wandering in and out of the Farwell house, looking a little rough with her hair in a messy bun, yoga pants, a fleece and moccasions…..that would be me, hahah!   Both afternoons I just didn’t want to waste all that time running back to my parents house to get ready knowing that I had no plans for the rest of the day.  I just wanted to help out and get their pictures done and then shower at the end of the day once I got back to my parents.  It ended up working out totally awesome last night…not.  I showered just before dinner, so I’m sitting at dinner with a towel still on my  head, no make- up and a hoodie on.   As I’m sitting there, I noticed that there were a pair of headlights out front that had been there for awhile……then I noticed that someone was standing in our front yard making circles with a flashlight…..so I walk over to the door (looking amazing) to see what’s going on and there is the ENTIRE Hale, Labeth, Barnes, Sparks Family singing Christmas Carols to us :-)   CUTEST THING EVER!!!!   We used to get together with all our family friends back in the day and go caroling, but that all stopped once all our lives got super crazy busy.  So it was so much fun to see this clan picking it back up!  Way to be :-)  

Sorry about the side story, but sometimes I just get rolling and I can’t stop typing….and the caroling was so cute, so I had to tell you about it.

Ali & Andrew decided they had caught up on their sleep just enough to stay up with the boys on Saturday night.  Apparently they decided not to be the total champs they had been for me on Thursday & Friday night (eat every 3 hours and sleep in between) and instead decided to sleep/cry/sleep/cry/sleep in 3 minute intervals.  Or something like that.  Either way, it was a rough night :-(   I felt horrible asking her to do prop shoots the next day, but we both knew it was our chance because Andrew had busy week with clients and we didn’t really want to be doing their shoot while he was meeting with clients.  Not that it’s a bad thing, I’ve done other clients shoots up there before while he was meeting with people, but seeing as how they are his babies and there are two of them, we just knew it would be a distraction.   So we decided to meet at the office at 11:45, feed both of them there and then just jump straight into pictures.  Turns out it was an awesome plan because those two were AMAZING and we zoomed through all these pictures in about an hour and half.   I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE doing pictures for my siblings, but I especially love doing newborn pictures for Ali because she’s done several newborn shoots with me and she knows exactly what to do.  She knows how to grab the babies, what to hold, how I want them positioned, how to get their chins propped up, etc.  She just lets me do my thing and when people let me just do my thing it all ends up working out :-)

I should probably tell you right now that their dad is an avid deer hunter.  For every single baby they’ve had, we’ve always joked about getting those ugly antler hats that you see all over Etsy, but none of us could ever convince ourselves to spend the money on them for a joke.   Well…..I found these hats on Etsy earlier this fall and ordered two right away :-)  They are actually CUTE and not goofy looking!  Do you see the plaid on the inside the ears?!?!?!?   I about died!  And the antlers are a creamy, white felt and they can be bent into different styles.  This made for the cutest “twin boy” Christmas card picture ever :-)

Miles & Bennett, I’m so happy you’re both healthy and I’m so happy you’re both finally here :-)  You two are absolutely precious and perfect in every way.  Getting to see you’re sweet little eye’s at 3:00 AM (I love babies in the middle of the night, when their little eye’s are wide open and they just look all around the room and then stare at you until they fall back asleep) is and always will be one of my favorite things.   Also- thank you for passing out smiles like crazy, this makes me very happy.  I already miss you and will more than likely come over tomorrow to snuggle with you…..and use your mom’s elliptical machine :-)
