{Christmas Sneak Peeks}

I’m kinda on a “Christmas Break/ Vacation” for about 2 weeks…but I’ve still done 4 shoot since I’ve been home :)  I didn’t make any rules for myself about not doing shoots, I just wanted to come home for the holiday season.  Besides, 4 (maybe 5) shoots in two weeks is not a lot, so I’ve decided it’s really not cutting into my “vacation” much.   First up was the Schmitz Family on Christmas Eve………at a funeral home………not kidding, ha!  Lovella Schmitz was actually my “tenfold moment” during my Tithing experience last month.  She was the one who tapped me on the shoulder towards the end of mass and asked if I could do pictures of her family on Christmas Eve.  We needed a space that would fit everyone & had good lighting because we did the pictures after they all got out of Church that evening and it was dark outside.  Lovella’s husband works at one of our funeral homes and had access to it on Christmas Eve evening….so we went for it!  Not going to lie, I was a little creeped out but it ended up being totally fine.  After awhile I actually forgot we were in a funeral home.  The Schmitz family was tons of fun so that made up for the fact that their pictures were on Christmas Eve and in a funeral home :)  Enjoy your sneak peek!!

The day after Christmas my cousin Emily came over with her boys for some New Years Pictures.  They had on tuxes!!!!!  It was so stinkin cute….SO cute!  They also did the mustache picture and it was AWESOME!  They looked like the Jib Jab guys, ha!  They did fantastic, we made it all super quick and painless.   They also got hot chocolate after they were done…it was a win/win for everyone involved :)  Thanks for being so great Salter boys!

On Sunday afternoon (after hosting a Baby Shower till 12:40) I rushed out to the Minner House for family pictures at 1:00!  They did a quick little mini shoot in their house and it went extremely quickly.  They were great :)  Little Mable (love her name!) was ready for her nap and I think we timed it out perfectly.  She smiled for me, sat still & then she was ready for bed :)  Thanks Minner Family and enjoy your sneak peek!

This morning I met up with Taylor Johnson and her mom for the second half of her senior pictures.  We met up in early November for the first half and then waited for some snow for the second half.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE the snow pictures we did today.  SO cute!  Poor Taylor really got put through the ringer on this round…I really made her work on these ones :)  First she had to wear her prom dress is this FREEZING weather and make it look like she was sitting in 80 degree weather.  Then I made her lay down in the snow (I layed in the snow as well) and then I made her take off her shoes and socks….I’m so sorry, but it was worth it!  They are awesome.  Enjoy your sneak peek Taylor!

Christmas is over and I always find these few days so sad.  It’s like everyone just turns off all their Christmas spirit as soon as they wake up on the 26th.  People stop being so nice, people think they don’t have to give anymore & people wont visit their family again until next Christmas.  People should be doing all that year-round!!!!  It’s always so hard for me to understand how people can let go so quickly.  I can’t do it…I have to ease myself out of Christmas music, decorations, spirit. etc.  I keep going until February :)  Besides, we’ve had a steady stream of guests throughout the past week so it’s been fun.   Andy & Autumn left on Sunday, Kaitlin & Zane left on Monday, my mom’s nephew & his family came into town on Monday, they leave tomorrow and then Sara & Ryan come into town on Wednesday.  We still have presents under our tree, we’re still listening to Christmas music and we are still watching Christmas movies.  We don’t give up so easy :)  I’m SO excited for next year!  It’s our “on” year and EVERYONE will be home…including our four new grandbabies.  SO SO SO much fun!  Only 362 days to go :)

I’m working on another post of different things that have been going on while I’ve been home, but it’s not quite ready.  I have some very entertaining photos from a very competitive game of Spoons we played last night.  Serious business around here!

  1. I really relate to your puzzlement of people letting go of Christmas so quickly – I just can’t make myself do it. What a let-down that would be for me. I love the season much too much! Besides, I think we can argue that “officially” the Christmas season goes until the Ephiphony (which this year is January 3rd) and then ordinary time begins the week after that….I think that means that it is still Christmas!
